(Chorus)
I’m running, I’m running, it’s like I’m running for nothing. Yeah, I’m running, I’m running, it’s like life keep on coming, that’s why I’m running, running, running from nothing, running from nothing, running from nothing!
(Verse 1 )
from Mobile Alabama through the struggles the tough choices, the temporary success, and up to the present. Let me know what you think from Mobile Alabama times were tough like a rusted ship aimed for the stars with just enough that the chains are broken. I’m finally free like a Phoenix soaring in my new reality. Life was hard struggling tough pitching pennies just to make enough mama looking at the bills like what we gonna do. Ask my face like just what should I do? All I want was Nikes looking in the sky praying to God wondering why stomach growling I think I had enough. I went outside tried to get a job even that was hard. I got with the big boys. It looked like there was Robin daddy was like why are you throwing rocks at the penitentiary how things getting real tough just for me to stay free I got with my cousin them. They were making money chopping up dope they like this is what it is. I sold a little weed trying to get my way in school skipping class trying to get paid. I had a friend down the road. He was rolling on rims. I’m like I need some of them. He showed me what he did he popped. The trunk showed me white substance. I’m like you telling me that you’re hustling and he was like yeah homie you gotta do something. If you ain’t making money get your butt back in school I went back to work dishwashing and busing subs but the whole time in the back of my head I’m thinking about being a hustler. I went back with my first check, told my dog let’s free up now I’m out here hustling with the rest of the hustlers granddaddy saw what I was doing. He already to be my butt and I’m like granddad. I’m just tired of the struggle like you ain’t gotta do this. It’s a better way while I was too far in the street even changed my way. I thank God that I ain’t never get caught up in that way. I had a couple more kids on the way. Life was getting fast as the heat started cannon all of a sudden I woke up in the cops was at my door. I’m at 1:04. It was my little brother. He was running around dealing with his homeboy almost had the place high and I knew everything had to stop. Granddaddy passed. It was a sad day so I sold the house and moved to Mobile. Another part of Mobile and finally I became a man got my life together on the track. I moved to Florida and enjoyed life duck down low and enjoyed the money until the money was gone.
(Chorus)
I’m running, I’m running, it’s like I’m running for nothing. Yeah, I’m running, I’m running, it’s like life keep on coming, that’s why I’m running, running, running from nothing, running from nothing, running from nothing!
