What’s it mean to be an American man?
I asked my paw-paw once when I was about ten.
What’s it mean to be an American man?
Let me tell ya what my grandad told me as a boy way back when.
It’s owning a tractor , And plowing your land.
It’s having some kids, a few bird dogs, a good woman’s hand.
It’s saluting the flag , singing to the Anthem
It’s praying to God, That we never forget them
It’s thanking a veteran every chance you get.
Yeah, That’s what it means to be an American man.
What’s it mean to be an American man?
My momma’d say ask you father, he’d answer ya fair.
What’s it mean to be an American man?
Well let me tell ya what my daddy told me as he pinched that skoal can.
It’s waking up early,Putting on your boots
It’s fixin a coffee, loading’ cattle in the shoots
It’s loving you family, Holding your wife’s hand
It’s having some pride, taking a firm stand.
It’s drinking a cold one, Lighting up the grille
Laughing with your buddies, Unfulfilling a promise, you never will
And praying to that man above every chance you get. Yeah, that’s what it means to be an American man.
