Concrete Hearts

In the city where the shadows roam,

Concrete jungle, I've called it home.

Lost in the alleys, chasing dreams,

But the pulse of the streets ain't what it seems.

From the West Side to the lakeside,

I wandered through the pain like a twisted ride.

Promises broken, like glass on the ground,

I counted my demons, heard their haunting sound.

Heart full of scars, but I'm finding a way,

Each step I take, I learn not to stray.

Fighting the darkness, I'm ready to mend,

Through the smoke and the tears, I’ll find strength in the end.

Oh Chicago, you taught me to bleed,

Now I'm rising from ashes, planting new seeds.

With a heart made of steel, though it's battered and bruised,

I’ll break from these chains, I won’t be used.

Staring through bars, memories collide,

Faces I loved, now ghosts on the ride.

Each tear that falls, a whisper of hope,

In this cell of darkness, I'm learning to cope.

Cuffs on my wrist, but my spirit won't break,

I’m learning the lessons these hard roads make.

Time to face the truth, time to take control.
