Peace Beyond the Noise

I learned to walk with heavy shoulders long before I knew my name. Every hallway felt much colder. Every smile became a game. Searching for a reason why my heart would beat this way. Now I finally have the answers, but they don’t wash the hurt away.

Still, I stop when sunlight reaches, branches dancing in the breeze, for a moment all the shouting finally releases me.

Give me peace beyond the noise, where my soul can hear its voice, where compassion still survives even after all this life. I still believe we’re meant for more, though hope feels different than before. If love is quiet, let it start in me. Give me peace… enough to breathe.

I’ve seen strangers left abandoned, hungry, hurting in the heat. Still I offered what I carried, ‘cause mercy walked ahead of me. Maybe that’s the contradiction I can’t seem to reconcile. The world’s so full of broken people, yet I still believe we can.
