Prompt / Lyrics
As long as I remember the sweetest times for me was going to my momma’s house with friends and family. We’d eat a lot, and talk a lot and laugh even more, we’d play cards, or watch the game to keep up with the score. The visit just got sweeter - the night went on and on. Then someone said the time was late – so we knew it won’t be long. Just one more story, one more joke, one more thing to say, till someone says the dreaded words that sends us on our way: It's time to get in the car and go home, It sure was fun, we’d love to stay but we have to travel on. I’ll miss you, and I’ll pray for you, and look forward to the time when we’ll pick up where we left off and get back to feeling fine. As long as I remember this is just how our lives flow, we come together and stay a while until it’s time to go. It seems unfair, but that’s just life, just know while you’re away. This tide of time repeats itself, until there’s just one thing to say.. It's time to get in the car and go home, It sure was fun, and we’d love to stay but we have to travel on. I’ll miss you, and I’ll pray for you, and look forward to the time when we’ll continue where we left off and get back to feeling fine. I won’t forget when time’s ebb and flow was very real to me in momma’s room - the time was late with friends and family. Just one more story, one more joke, one more thing to say just one more time to say “I love you, and I wish that you could stay.” Mom, you’ve got a home to go to and I’ll be there one sweet day. You’ll see all your loved ones – you’ll know them right away. The time is late and you’re so tired, and we all will be alright, I need to say those dreadful words with love as I hold you tight. Mom it's time to get in the car and go home, It sure was fun, and I’d love you to stay but you have to travel on. I’ll miss you, please pray for me. I look forward to the time when we’ll continue where we left off and get back to feeling fine. As I drove away, tears fell like rain, it was the sweetest time. Although I’m hurting now, I know that she is doing fine. As Jesus welcomed her that night to where she’ll always be. now I know that she’ll wait until someone says to me... It's time to get in the car and go home, It sure was fun, I’d love you to stay, but you must travel on. I’ll miss you, please pray for me. I look forward to the time when we’ll continue where we left off and get back to feeling fine Mom it's time to get in the car and go home, It sure was fun, and I’d love you to stay but you have to travel on. I’ll miss you, please pray for me. I look forward to the time when we’ll continue where we left off and get back to feeling fine. (Outro)) As I drove away, tears fell like rain, it was the sweetest time. Although I’m hurting now, I know that she is doing fine. As Jesus welcomed her that night to where she’ll always be. now I know that she’ll wait until someone says to me... Oh, It's time to get in the car and go home, It sure was fun, I’d love you to stay, but you must travel on. I’ll miss you, please pray for me. I look forward to the time when we’ll pick up where we left off and get back to feeling fine
