Touchdown Love

Met him at the game, snap and a smile,

Thought he was the one, felt like a mile,

That one call in the night, started something new,

Love at first sight, everything 'bout you,

Saw him slide in slow, the crowd faded out,

Caught my biggest smile, no doubt,

Long-distance love, but we were trying,

Caught in a storm, no denying.

From the first glance, I was hooked,

In my head, I replayed, took,

A chance on the hope, the dream,

Love or just a passing gleam?

We were love in the making, quick and sweet,

Toxic but real, felt the heat,

Thought you were my forever, my all,

But we were destined to fall, to fall.

Now I see the hurt, the scars,

Wish I knew then, the pain of the stars,

Looking back, it’s clear, it’s true,

Sometimes love hides what’s good for you.

So I hold this memory, bittersweet,

A love so brief, yet so complete,

Game over, but I still recall,

The love, the fall, after all.
