“Valley of the Kings” (Christian Version – Exodus Narrative)
(Verse 1)
In a distant age of dust and stone
A ruler sat upon a borrowed throne
In his heart he saw a kingdom rise
But he could not see through heaven’s eyes.
He enslaved a people not his own
Claimed their lives to build his home
He thought their future was his to plan
But destiny was in God’s hand.
There was no way out
There could be no doubt
All he wanted was his dream fulfilled
Till the day the mighty city stood built.
There was no way out
There could be no doubt.
(Chorus)
The blood would flow, a thousand cries for mercy
Echoed through the night
You could hear it on the wind
These captives never sinned.
(Verse 2)
Stone on stone they worked till their strength was gone
Whips and chains from dusk till dawn
No escape from the weight they bore
Till heaven heard their cry once more.
See the fire in the sky
The Lord draws near
Fall on your knees
The end is here
Cry if you must, but choose who you’ll serve
The Valley of the Kings will still return to dust
See the fire in the sky
The Lord draws near.
The blood would flow, a thousand cries for mercy
Echoed through the night
You could hear it on the wind
These captives never sinned.
(Verse 3)
The king looked on and saw his dream arise
But pride had sealed his blinded eyes
Graves were dug in golden sand
But no soul is saved by mortal hands
He thought his wealth would guard his soul
Jewels and gold would make him whole
But kingdoms built on flesh and fear
Fall when God’s judgment draws near
Feel the breath on the wind
See the blood on the sand
It was built with chains and sin
It was torn down by God’s own hand
Feel the breath on the wind
See the blood on the sand.
The blood would flow, a thousand cries for mercy
Echoed through the night
You could hear it on the wind
These captives never sinned..

Where the proud are brought to their knees

They were working, slaving, fear ruled every breath
Till the Lord split the sea
And walked them out of death

In the valley of the kings
