Death by withdrawal

Woke up cold sweat, body fights its own breath,

These demons in my ear, whisper promises of death.

Veins scream silence, the devil in the syringes,

Each second ticking slow, devil's grin in the fringes.

Fist clenched tight, shadows dance on the walls,

Used to numb the pain but it only made me fall.

My soul bargains for light, but he tempts me with chains,

Prowling through my weakness, he drinks from my veins.

Withdrawals in the mirror, my reflection cracked,

Devil plays dealer, shuffling relapse-packed tracks.

I'm screaming in a void where the echoes won't answer,

Trying to find escape but I’m locked in disaster.

Knuckles to the dirt, but I’m clawing for the sky,

Dry heaves in my throat as the fire won’t lie.

His voice like acid, burns through the tears,

Feeding on my fears, whispering my years.

Chemical temptress, her kiss bittersweet,

Every step to freedom feels tangled in defeat.

His laughter in the backdrop, mocking my trial,

But I stagger through the shadows, dragging pure survival.

Praying through the static, though my blood beats faint,

A chapel in the chaos, I whisper to the saint.

But the devil’s close watching, I feel his red eyes,

Every needle I resist fuels his angered cries.
