Outsider

Walking through the hallways, eyes all on me,

Like I’m something different they don’t wanna see,

Every little whisper, every little stare,

Makes me feel invisible even when I’m there,

Tried to fit the mold, tried to play the game,

Changed a hundred things but it stayed the same,

Always on the outside looking through the glass,

Wondering if I’ll ever finally belong at last,

But I learned the hard way,

Not everybody understands,

What it’s like standing alone,

With the world against your plans,

I’m an outsider,

Always standing on the edge,

Like a wildfire,

Burning where they draw the lines instead,

They point their fingers,

Try to tell me who I should be,

But I’m an outsider,

And that’s all they’ll ever see,

Never got the invite, never got the call,

Everybody building walls, watching me fall,

Laughing from a distance while they play pretend,

Acting like they’re saints but they stab their friends,

I was always too loud or a little too strange,

Too different for the crowd, never willing to change,

Spent years trying to hide every scar and flaw,

Till I realized being me was the greatest cause,

Every rumor, every joke, every sideways glance,

Only made me stronger every time they took a chance,

To knock me down, shut me out, make me disappear,

Now I’m standing taller than I ever did here,

And I learned the hard way,
