I was runnin’ in the dark, heart full of sin,
Chasin’ every shadow, let the devil creep in.
One night hit the floor, breath started to fade,
Felt the chains of fire pullin’ me to the grave.
Eyes wide open, saw the pit below,
Demons in the flames where the lost souls go.
Fear gripped my chest, I cried in despair,
“Jesus, save me!” echo’d in the air.
From the depths of hell to the gates of light,
I saw Heaven’s beauty break my night.
You called my name, and gave me breath,
I’ll praise You, Lord, past life and death.
Then a hand reached down, brighter than the sun,
Peace like a river, all my fear undone.
Saw the golden streets, heard the angels sing,
Felt the mercy flow from my Savior, my King.
“Your life ain’t over, I’ve broken your chains,
Go tell the world that I still reign.”
Next thing I knew, I was breathin’ again,
Tears on my face, forgiven from within.
From the depths of hell to the gates of light,
I saw Heaven’s beauty break my night.
You called my name, and gave me breath,
I’ll praise You, Lord, past life and death.
I was lost, now I’m found, grace lifted me higher,
Pulled me up from the pit, out the lake of fire.
I’ll never turn back, my soul is Yours,
Forever I’ll praise with Heaven’s doors.
So I tell you this, let the world all see,
Jesus is the name that set me free.
From the edge of death to eternal life,
All glory to God, my Savior and Christ.
Forevermore, I’ll praise Your name.
Forevermore, I’ll never be the same.
