Boots in the dirt where the sun don't quit

Sweat on my brow but I’m used to it

The rooster’s late but I’m up before dawn

Prayin' for rain but it's dry as heaven

Calloused hands and a back that won’t bend

The field don’t stop till the day’s at an end

Crows in the corn like they’re staking their claim

The tractor groans but I love the game

A thousand miles from a big city life

But the soil’s my blood and the plow’s my knife

The sun’s a whip cracking hard at my skin

But I dig deep
