In the Alps of sweet Switzerland,
New Year’s Eve with candle shine,
Raclette melting, hearts all glowing,
Cheese and time and joy were mine.
Oh Cheesivus, oh Cheesivus,
Cheese with us and cheese for us,
Melt it, stretch it, pass it round,
Cheese, glorious cheese for us.
On a ship with Mickey waving,
Met some friends who felt like kin,
Gretchen laughing, Jason smiling,
Like our story had begun.
Oh Cheesivus, oh Cheesivus,
Cheese with us and cheese for us,
Strangers first, but not for long,
Cheese made fast friends out of us.
“Come to Austin, New Year’s Eve!”
Plans were made with happy cheer,
But then COVID, then some sickness,
So we waited, still held near.
Oh Cheesivus, oh Cheesivus,
Good things wait and grow with us,
First year late but just as sweet,
Cheese was patient, just like us.
Second year on New Year’s evening,
Third year January’s light,
Second weekend, still the same joy,
Cheese don’t care about the night.
Oh Cheesivus, oh Cheesivus,
Dates may shift but not our trust,
Any day can be the day,
Long as there is cheese with us.
Now it’s Chris and Mindy hosting,
Gretchen, Jason, every year,
Long weekend in Austin city,
Food and laughs and local cheer.
Oh Cheesivus, oh Cheesivus,
Four fast friends and zero fuss,
Tour the town and tell old tales,
Then melt cheese and gather us.
We wear shirts that shout out “Cheesivus,”
Silly, cheesy, proud and loud,
Not by blood but love and laughter,
This is how we all got found.
Oh Cheesivus, oh Cheesivus,
Cheese with us and cheese for us,
Year by year and friend by friend,
Cheese keeps choosing all of us.
