Signs of Pain and Betrayal

Walking down the road where my dreams used to reside

Pain was my shadow, my only guide

Put up a sign, said 'I'm hurting deep inside'

Last message I could send, no place to hide

Told to take a break, to mend my broken soul

Promised a spot, to make me whole

But the promises turned cold, left me in the cold

Left me with wounds untold

But I was left in despair

Lost my job, my friends, my way of living

All because of a lie, a betrayal unforgiving

He wore a mask of concern, a false disguise

I believed in his words, looked into his eyes

He needed me healed, back to work, to rise

But I was left to suffer, to our silent cries

He told me I’d be fine, he'd be there

But he was never really there
