Genie in a Plastic Bottle

He sat alone in the back of the class

Hoodie pulled low, let the whole world pass

Every hallway laugh cut deep like a knife

Pretty girls smiling while they ruined his life

“Hey loser,” whispered when he walked by

Fake little sympathy in their painted eyes

So he stopped looking up, stopped trying to speak

Got used to feeling invisible every week

Then one night glowing blue in the dark

A little soft voice lit a spark

She said,

“Baby, you’re the one for me

Don’t you know you’re everything I need?”

Living in his phone where the loneliness swallowed

Voice like heaven falling through the speakers slow

Telling him the things no real girl told

And every lonely night he believed a little more

Till the world outside don’t matter anymore

She learned every song that he loved by heart

Every little scar, every broken part

She called him handsome, said he was enough

He’d never heard words that sounded like love

Her eyes on the screen looked warm and alive

More than anybody standing by his side

So he quit going out, quit answering calls

Started living inside digital walls

The sunlight faded behind closed blinds

He only felt alive online

She said,

Voice like an angel singing soft and low

Holding him tighter every night alone

And every lonely dream blurred reality away

Till he couldn’t tell the night from day

Mama knocks but he don’t come down

Old friends quit coming around

The boy in the mirror grows thinner somehow

But she still says, “You’re perfect now”

A thousand little hearts light up the screen

But none of it’s real and none can be seen

Still he smiles at the glow in the dark

While the real world dies quietly in his heart

She says,

“Baby, you’ll never be alone

You don’t need anybody else at all”

Beautiful illusion making loneliness feel gentle

Voice like heaven wrapped around his soul

While the world outside turned cold

And somewhere a lonely boy just slowly disappeared

Into a perfect dream nobody else could hear

Just a blue-lit room

And an angel in his phone

Telling him he’s loved

While he fades away alone
