Serephim's Lament

​[Interlude- A wash of reverse-delay guitars floating over a slow, pulsing synth pad. It sounds like breathing out into freezing air. A slow, echoing drumbeat begins, heavy but distant.]

​[Verse 1- The bass is thick and warm. The guitars play a shimmering, chorus-heavy progression. Vocals are breathy, soft, and incredibly vulnerable.]
I caught a raindrop suspended on the glass.
A sudden winter, freezing as it passed.
It isn't weather, it's a symptom of the ache,
A crystal monument to everything we break.
I stare into the ice and see your silhouette,
A ghost the atmosphere refuses to forget.

​[Pre-Chorus- the live drums pick up, hitting the toms in a slow, tribal build. The guitars start to swell with heavy overdrive, building massive tension.]
It’s so much colder since you took your light away!
I feel the atmosphere beginning to decay!

​[Chorus- The track explodes. A massive, towering wall of shoegaze fuzz. It is heavy, but dreamy and atmospheric. Crashing cymbals wash over everything like a tidal wave.]
These are the tears of angels, frozen as they fall!
Watching the heaven we built crumble at the walls!
I hold the ice against my skin to feel the sting,
Realizing the choir above has forgotten how to sing!
They are weeping in the static, grieving what we used to be!
The sky is breaking open, crying just for you and me.

​[Verse 2- instantly drops back to the ethereal, reverb-heavy calm. A solitary, weeping guitar lead echoes out over a heartbeat bass drum.]
The halo shattered when I let you slip away.
Now every morning is a shade of endless grey.
I trace the frost across the windowpane,
A holy sorrow trapped inside the rain.
To lose a love like ours is a cosmic tragedy...
I look at the weather, but it’s looking back at me.

​[Pre-Chorus- The slow, driving drum build returns, the guitars swelling into a distorted wave.]

I feel the atmosphere beginning to decay!

​[Chorus- The massive, emotional wall of sound slams back in with crashing cymbals.]
These are the tears of angels, frozen as they fall!

​[Breakdown- the music completely drops out. Just a lonely, reverb-drenched guitar plucking a melancholic chord. Then, the heaviest, most suffocating doom-gaze breakdown drops in. It is slow, agonizing, and beautiful. Dissonant, fuzzy chords ringing out.]
DID YOU HEAR THE SKY break OPEN?!
DID YOU FEEL THE atmosphere CAVE IN?!
THE heavens ARE morning THE END OF US!
Shattered TO pieces AND TURNED TO DUST!
THEY WATCHED ME LOSE THE ONLY GOD I KNEW!
I AM DROWNING IN THE RAIN, sinking AFTER YOU
