“I Need to Work”

Yeah…

I don’t need a handout, I need a chance,

Put me on the job, let me earn my stance.

I was built for work, that’s the way I live,

If I get a dollar, I wanna know what I did.

I wake up every morning with a purpose in my mind,

Give me something I can build, give me something I can grind.

I don’t like sitting still, I was never made that way,

I’d rather work for what I got at the ending of the day.

I don’t want a paycheck if I didn’t earn the pay,

I don’t want somebody giving me a free ride on the way.

Let me sweat, let me struggle, let me prove what I can do,

Every dollar in my pocket gotta know I earned it true.

I wanna work, I wanna grind,

Keep my hands busy, keep my money earned right.

I don’t want a check if I didn’t put in time,

I need a job, I need a purpose, I need a reason to shine.

I wanna work, I wanna grind,

Give me something to do and I’ll give you all my time.

Don’t give me money just to sit around and wait,

I’d rather earn my living than get paid for doing nothing.

I learned early in life that nothing comes for free,

If I want something better, I gotta work for me.

Long days, hard days, yeah, I know the routine,

But there’s pride in every dollar that I earn from my machine.

Give me a toolbox, give me a job,

Give me something difficult, I won’t ever stop.

While some people complain, I’m looking for the next,

Another job, another challenge, another paycheck earned with respect.

Work is more than money,

It’s the feeling that I earned it.

It’s looking at my hands

And knowing I deserved it.

I don’t fear the long road,

I don’t run from the grind,

As long as I can work,

I know I’ll be alright.

I wanna work, I wanna grind,
