I’ve been down this long road

A road of heartache and public shame

A road that had me wondering what it’s all for

A road that I wasn’t sure where You had me going

Through it all You have been there.

You’ve been there even when I didn’t see it

And sometimes couldn’t feel it

But You’ve been there always

Just as You’ve always said You would

You’ve been there.

This road of uncertainty

A road that had so many turns and curves at times

I wasn’t sure where You were leading

But through it all I have trusted You

And know that You are in control

And You’ve been there.

You’ve been there even when I didn’t see it

And sometimes couldn’t feel it

But You’ve been there always

Just as You’ve always said You would

You’ve been there.

A road that has cost me friends

A road that has cost me family

A road that has been full of mud and potholes

With lies, cover ups, and intentional setups

A road that has been ripped apart and rebuilt

Resurfaced more times than I can count

But You’ve always been there.

You’ve been there even when I didn’t see it

And sometimes couldn’t feel it

But You’ve been there always

Just as You’ve always said You would

You’ve been there.

This road I have been on is still winding

A road that I know will carry me to my purpose

A road that only You can travel with me

To get me to where You want me to be

A road that takes me to my final destination
