Dust on the road to Corinth town
Sandaled feet on the stony ground
A weary soul by the olive tree
Prayin’ for chains to set men free
By lantern light the old words came
Paul spoke hope in Jesus’ name
To broken hearts and trembling hands
Grace like rain on thirsty land
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing
So that by the power of the Holy Spirit
You may abound in hope”
The widows cried, the children sang
Hallelujah through the pain and rain
Bread was broken, cups were raised
Voices echoed endless praise
In prison dark or raging sea
The Lord was there beside His sheep
Empires rise and kingdoms fall
But Jesus Christ outshines them all
Oh, fill my heart with holy fire
Lift my soul a little higher
When fear and sorrow cloud my way
Lord, let Your mercy light the day
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing
So that by the power of the Holy Spirit
You may abound in hope”
Trumpets sounding in the night
Saints still walking by faith not sight
From Jerusalem to Rome they cried
Jesus lives though He once died
Hope for the poor and mercy for the weak
Strength for the ones too worn to speak
The Spirit moves like heaven’s wind
And fills our hearts again, again
