Prompt / Lyrics
Growing up, I was weird Couldn't fit in anywhere. I tried so hard but was told I need to change. They always made me feel like who I am was not okay. It hurt and left scars, but today I say I'm proud. I learned the hard way that who I am is quite alright. It's ok to be different, Living life in your own way. You know that nothing is missing, Knowing God sees us the same. It's ok to feel the pain, Even though it leaves a scar. You know it's worth the gain, Because the lessons learned go far. For years, I would hide Wouldn't talk, wouldn't show Anything about myself I kept my eyes shut To all the things that would help. I would fall I would fail Thought I couldn't win this war. Now I know there is a way Without giving up my life It's ok to share your heart, For it keeps you in the light. Though you can fall apart, You can never lose the fight. It's ok to leave the dark, To face your own fears. It's no walk in the park, And you'll shed many tears. So long as your strength stays, And you always look ahead. You'll never lose the way, And your hope will not go dead. All these lessons in my life I learned the hard way. I had to go through hell Just to become who I am. I just hope this song Can be a beacon for one and all If you ever feel alone If you ever feel defeat Remember these words Because I'll be right here for you.
