The broken world

I remember growing up

scratches on my back

bruises on my arms

I was all alone

Not a crumb in the cabinets

Or a crayon in sight

I had to wait to see

If a family could ever love me

I really tried, tried hard to be apart of families I wasn’t wanted in

I learned how to kill my fear and kill my doubt, after you made me fear myself

You made me fear the world but

I won’t choke on the pain you gave

I won’t let you define me, I’ll find my voice and Ill define myself (I’ll define myself)

I was never enough for you

I tried and I tried

It’s hard when we live in a broken world

No matter what I do

you don’t see what I see

Ill deprive myself of everything

To see this system smile

Because we live in a broken world

Does it really matter if I fit in or not

Or is that just an excuse for the unwanted

Everyone is at war with themselves

So how do I make them see their losing

Every-time they fight themselves

So why are the people broken
