A cold dark night in north Tennessee

I caught her eye as she glanced at me

Kissed by her scent hangin on the breeze

As those icy blues looked into me

Ain't got much that shakes this tired soul

But her voice alone ran off the cold

What I felt that night hit me like a stone

Calling to be more than breath and bone

I saw the cracks show in her smile

A mosaic beauty stitched of broken tile

Still haunted by the way I felt

When I saw my pain in someone else
