Prompt / Lyrics
You went to war at eighteen excited to serve a country you loved so much. Years passed and the nightmares stay no where to turn to help you deal with the pain. The doctor sends you home saying eventually it will pass just take this pill it will help you sleep. You ask yourself why what seemed so easy turned out to be a lifetime of suffering battling depression and the urge to run. You spend your days lost in the Bourbon drinking away the memories of war and all the things an eighteen year old should never see. This life isn’t for the faint of heart, flashbacks and the smell of gun powered is just a reminder of the things you had to do The government said here son we give you the power to take a life but when you come home your fighting for your own. They don’t tell you the struggles you’ll have for the rest of your life. You thought you was ready to become a man went off to fight someone else’s war. Battle ridden and torn hailed a hero, but deep down your just a broken version of who you used to be. Who is there to help walk you through.
