Prompt / Lyrics
In heaven there’s a scroll in a mighty right hand, sealed up tight with seven strong seals. The Lamb steps forward, he alone can stand, to open what the future will reveal. A thundered voice cries, “Come, now see!” as the first seal’s broken in that holy place. The vision moves from heaven’s sea of glass to the troubled story of the human race. I saw a horse so bright and white, and its rider held a bow in hand. A crown was given, shining with right, he rode out conquering by God’s command. Not a tyrant king with greedy eyes, but a faithful ruler, firm and kind. Bringing truth and justice from the skies, to win a war for hearts and minds. Then came a horse the color of fire, and its rider took away earth’s peace. People turned to hatred, rage, and ire, and the sound of conflict never ceased. He carried a sword, sharp and red, as nations rose and armies bled. It pictured all the wars we’ve known, when selfish power rules the throne. Next came a horse as black as night, its rider held a pair of scales. A voice cried out the costly price of grain and daily bread that fails. It showed a world of empty shelves, where many hunger, few have more. Where some grow rich upon themselves while others starve from door to door. I saw a horse a sickly pale, and the rider’s name was simply Death. The Grave rode close behind his tail, collecting every fading breath. By sword and famine, plague and fear, and beasts that prey when hope is gone. It pictured all our pain down here, the tears that fall at dusk and dawn. These four ride on through troubled years, war and hunger, plague and loss. But the first rides first, and that calms fears, a righteous king who gave his life for us. His rule will end the other three, bring peace and health to all who live. So when we read this prophecy, we see not just fear—but hope to give.
