Vultures in the Shadows

Whispers in the wind, shadows fall,

Echoes of a life that's growing small.

Darkened skies, vultures in the air,

Gathering round what’s left, unaware.

Once I had a crown, now it’s worn and frayed,

Fading memories softly fade away.

They circle high, with eyes so cold,

Pecking at the stories I once told.

Every piece they take, it leaves a scar,

Echoes of what we are.

Losing all I held so dear,

Fading, shifting into fear.

Slowly decaying, piece by piece,

What was mine is now release.

Vultures pecking in the silence,

Leaving nothing but defiance.

In the hollow, shadows creep,

Promises I couldn’t keep.

Fading into the dusk’s embrace,

Leaving crumbs, wiped from grace.

So here I stand, with nothing left,

Silent tears, no more theft.

Vultures fly into the night,

Creeping shadows, out of sight.
