Haunted Hearts

In the shadows of my heart, I wander,

Where memories linger, pulling me under.

I’ve searched for a spark in the bright city lights,

But every smile brings whispers of old fights.

Echoes of laughter that faded too fast,

Each heartbeat I feel ties me to the past.

I’m walking on glass, can’t shake off the stain,

Trying to find joy, but I can’t break the chain.

They dance in the twilight, fueling my shame,

These walls that I built, they protect and confine,
