(WORDS IN THE WIND)
"At the Bema"
How do you stand?
Not before men.
Not before a church board.
Not before a pastor.
Before Him.
How do you stand
when you step into the light of the Bema —
the judgment seat of Christ —
and everything you called ministry
gets laid on the fire?
(Music builds slightly — low drum enters)
Wood.
Hay.
Stubble.
They burn fast.
The activity was real.
The sweat was real.
The years were real.
But the motive —
was it flesh performing for standing?
Was it works
trying to earn what grace already gave?
(Beat drops into a groove — bass and snare, steady)
Did you show yourself approved?
Did you rightly divide the word of truth?
Did you know what it is
to make all men see —
not just the promise to Israel —
but the mystery —
The revelation hidden from ages —
hidden in God —
now revealed through Paul —
Grace.
Through faith.
In His finished work.
Grace through faith…
Not by works…
His finished work…
His finished work…
(Back to spoken — warmer now)
Or did you build on precious stones?
Not upon yourself.
Not upon your performance.
Not upon your flesh.
Upon Him.
Upon the finished work.
Upon the mystery revealed.
Upon Christ in you —
the hope of glory.
Did you reckon yourself dead to sin
and alive to God in Christ Jesus?
Not striving for a standing you already had.
Not performing to keep a righteousness
that was already yours —
because you are in Him.
Christ in you.
You in Christ.
(Slower, intentional)
He is seated
in the heavenlies.
And you —
you are seated with Him.
Not climbing.
Not striving.
Not maintaining.
Seated.
His righteousness…
Not mine…
His finished work…
I am in Him…
(Back to spoken — the tone shifts now, solemn, tender)
But hear me.
Paul said it plainly.
First Corinthians three.
If the work doesn't survive the fire —
the man still does.
You will not lose your salvation.
That is not on the table.
That was settled at the cross.
But you may be
saved as by fire.
Sliding in.
Empty handed.
No crown to lay at His feet.
No reward for the race you could have run.
And then —
Your eyes open.
And you see Him.
The fullness of that glory.
The weight of that grace
that carried you all the way home.
And somewhere in that eternal light
a question rises —
not from Him —
but from within you —
Why didn't I do more?
When I knew this.
When I had this.
When grace was mine —
Why did I spend it on my self
When I see His glory…
I want to bring Him something…
More than just myself…
Saved by fire…
You are secure.
Forever.
But the Bema is coming.
Let us serve him because we are blessed. Listen to the spirit, he'll do the rest.
Let's build our lives on precious stones
That God will get the glory to him alone
So when we see him, - he will see his own.
And we hear those words.
Well done welcome home.
