The Caged Bird’s Flight
A bird in a cage is safe inside,
Shielded from the storm outside.
Fed on time, with water too,
Never hungry, always new.
Medicine comes when sickness stays,
Insurance guards in careful ways.
Yet freedom calls beyond the bars,
A world that sings beneath the stars.
The tunes of nature, soft yet strong,
A melody where all belong.
But trapped within, I cannot see,
The ocean wide, the mountains free.
Despite the gifts, the care, the grace,
A caged bird lives in a restless place.
I will not stay, I will not hide,
I want to soar, let wings be wide.
I long to dance with trees and sky,
To hum the songs as winds pass by.
To break the cage and spread my wings,
To see the world and all it brings.
So here’s my choice, my firm goodbye,
I resign today—so I can fly.
