Fool's Christmas

Snow falls softly on an empty street

Whispers of the past, I can't retreat

Thought I found a gift in your eyes

A Christmas miracle, or so I believed

But now there's frost on my hopes and my pride

And I wonder if you ever truly deceived

Things that spark so bright

Can burn out in the night

I was caught in the glow

Thinking love could grow

Had my heart made a fool of me this Christmas

Wrapped in illusions, now I see the witness

Of a love that was only pretending

Solo in the cold, my trust unending

Lost in the snow, of promises dismissed

Maybe next year, I'll learn to believe

But tonight, I grieve, in Christmas’s eve

Lights flicker, memories stir
