My Light

Some people ask why I believe what I believe. Well , of all the ideas I’ve heard, none of them could take the pitiful slob that I am and make something worth it.

When I was fightin for a place at the worldly banquet,

the odds were stacked against me but I thought I could make it .

And when I caught a glimpse of the food , all along,

The food wan’t worth the paper plates it was on.

So I cast aside my love, my compassionate ways

All my fortune and my freedom, yeah, I threw it away

I gave into the soul destroying lust of the world

While I hungered after glass, gold, glory, and girls.

The way of the world is a waste of your life

With my soul in the ditch, there was nowhere to go,

I was scraping through my head of the things that I know.

But in a life full of hell, full of petulant strife

It only took a book that would rescue my life.
